A vibrant celebration of creativity and compassion, all proceeds collected from the day will go towards helping vulnerable children and families through the various schemes operated and supported by Action for Children.

Held at Steeper HQ, members of the Innovation Forum set up the market that included intricately drawn animal prints, upcycled woodwork, crocheted soft toys, home decor and an array of sweet treats! Curious customers started rolling up one by one to marvel at the craftsmanship on display, and as the word began to spread, a buzz took over the building! The generosity of all those involved quickly became apparent and we are pleased to announce that the event raised over £500 in charitable donations.

Also present on the day was Action for Children Regional Manager, Izzy Brown, who spoke passionately about the importance of the care and support the charity provides. According to the latest statistics, the number of children living in poverty in the UK has increased by 100,000 from 2021/22 to 2022/23 and since 2012/13, that number increased by 700,000. Right now, 4.3 million children in the UK are living in poverty. That’s 30% of all children. Action for Children is at the forefront of this battle, offering a lifeline to those facing adversity through emergency financial grants, mental health support, disability support, fostering services, and support for neglected, abused, or criminally exploited children.

All proceeds collected from the Steeper Charity Craft Market will go towards supporting these vital services and we would like to express our gratitude to everyone who donated so generously on the day. We’d also like to say a massive thank you to our maker’s Anna Jaines, Chelsi Smith, Debra Hartley, Iffah Haq, Joanne Brooks, Keith Pam, Laura Seccombe, Lexie Foster, Loui Mitchell, and Rianna Thornton.
