Owners of Steeper Group
Over 100 years ago, Steeper Group was founded by Paul Steeper’s late grandfather, Hugh. The company initially set out to provide prosthetic limbs to veterans of the Great War, and since then has expanded across prosthetics, orthotics and accessible technology – with a commitment to
caring for all by delivering world-leading technologies and products, alongside responsive clinical services.
February 2017 saw changes to the ownership of Steeper Group. Two members of the executive board of directors, Paul Steeper, CEO and John Midgley, Finance Director, acquired Steeper Group from UK mid-market private equity firm, Dunedin. For many years, Steeper had been owned by private equity firms, and by Dunedin since 2005. This particular investment and support were vital in enabling the company to grow. However, as part of the agreement, the company’s bebionic area of the business transferred ownership to German prosthetics company, Ottobock.
March 2023 marked another significant milestone for Steeper as the business joined
Eqwal Group - a global prosthetics and orthotics patient care services provider founded in 1976 and headquartered in Toulouse, France, who, at the time, employed over 1,700 people with clinics across Europe and the USA. Since then, the Eqwal Group has continued to grow around the world, now employing over 3,000 dedicated team members, and building a strong portfolio of world-leading brands in the industry such as
TASKA and
Qwadra.
