About the Rising Star Award
The Rising Star Award, presented by the British Healthcare Trades Association, celebrates individuals who embody innovation, adaptability and a commitment to improving the healthcare and assistive technology industry. Selected by an independent and neutral judging panel, nominees are judged based on tangible contributions to their company and the community.
The award, along with seven others, was proudly presented at the annual BHTA Awards dinner, hosted by Melissa Johns. Known for her acting roles in Midsomer Murders, Grantchester, Life and Coronation Street, Melissa is a fierce advocate for diversity and inclusion in all industries. Born without a right forearm and hand, Melissa was recognised as one of the UK’s 100 Most Influential Disabled People and selected as one of JCI’s Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World.
Steeper were also shortlisted for the Innovation in Sustainability Award for our work in dramatically reducing waste during the production of orthotic insoles. We are very proud of our team's efforts in achieving this recognition, and on the night the award was deservingly won by Reliance Medical who we would like to extend our congratulations to.
