Living with Multiple Sclerosis: Claire’s Experience with Sstep

Living with Multiple Sclerosis: Claire’s Experience with Sstep Living with Multiple Sclerosis: Claire’s Experience with Sstep

Claire works as an Administration Team Lead within the healthcare sector and has been living with Multiple Sclerosis for several years. Like many people with MS, her symptoms can vary from day to day, meaning some days she can remain active, whilst others can be much more challenging. One of her biggest challenges is fatigue, particularly during periods of increased activity. As she becomes tired, she occasionally catches her toes, increasing the risk of tripping and making it difficult to enjoy the activities she loves. Whether spending time with family, or walking her dog, she became increasingly aware of every step she took. Claire discussed her concerns with Steeper Orthotist, John Innes, who recommended she trial the Sstep fabric sock during longer periods of activity.

Regaining Confidence, One Step at a Time

After trying the Sstep, Claire found it made a real difference to her confidence and comfort when walking. She described the support as "brilliant", particularly during longer walks where fatigue would usually begin to affect her mobility. On a family day out exploring, the Sstep provided the support she needed to stay comfortable throughout the day, allowing her to walk significantly further than she felt she could have without it. Claire now also wears her Sstep when walking her dog, helping her cover longer distances with greater ease and confidence.

How the Sstep Can Support You

Comfort is just as important as the support itself. The lightweight sock fits easily inside everyday shoes, is simple to put on and adjust, and is comfortable enough to wear for extended periods when needed. The Sstep promotes a natural gait, enhancing overall stability and reducing the risk of falling. Whether wearing shoes or walking barefoot, the Sstep provides continuous support, offering flexibility when in use at home, at the beach or at work. The sock features an integrated cable system with an easy adjustment dial and silicone grip inside and out, making it suitable for a wide range of users.

While Claire doesn't need to wear the Sstep all the time, she believes it could be particularly beneficial for people with MS who experience greater weakness in their legs than she experiences and require additional support throughout the day.
