About the Role
 
In 2023 Steeper joined Eqwal and became part of the fourth largest provider of Prosthetics and Orthotics globally.  We currently have an exciting opportunity within Steeper Services for a Head of Contract Management, to support and drive sustainable growth across both established and new markets within the UK.

We are seeking an individual with experience of contract management.  This role will ensure both contractual compliance across Steeper services and ensure the submission of competitive and high-quality tenders. This pivotal role will link to various leadership teams across Steeper and ensure contractual awareness within each element.  In addition, the individual work with the local clinical services to demonstrate compliance within contract reviews and work with NHS customers to maintain contract alignment and agree any changes to specification.

The role will also be vital within the tendering process and the Head of Contracting is expected to lead on all tenders and direct awards.  The applicant is expected to have an understanding of contract legislation including the Procurement act 2023.

Your Duties and Responsibilites:
Tenders:
  • Manage the bid qualification (bid/no bid) process for new opportunities
  • Co-ordinate and chair bid team meetings, including kick and progress review meetings
  • Manage bid teams and inputs from subject matter specialist, typically involving contributions from clinical, finance, production, manufacturing, health and safety, customer service, commercial and delivery
  • Work with the head of Commercial Development to understand the commercial aspects of the bid, ensuring all services are included in the final price to the customer
  • Work with the team to develop winning bid themes and styles
  • Track progress of bid process
  • Compile and present summary reports to board for bid decisions
  • Contribute to the written proposal – both in terms of content and presentation (such as presentation of a management summary)
  • Ensure timely delivery of compliant and commercially sound bids
  • Project manage the commissioning of new contracts
  • Arrange post bid reviews with customers, post contract award, review and analyse bid outcomes, identify areas of improvement
  • Maintain library of tender support and reference documentation
Contract renewals/awards:
  • In conjunction with senior clinical and contract management team, prepare and present contract proposals for “direct” contract awards, renewals and extensions
  • Identify contract renewal, direct award, and extension solutions.
Contract Monitoring:
  • In conjunction with senior clinical/contract management team, review contract performance, attend contract reviews
  • Conduct face to face contract meetings with client organisations
  • Monitor contract compliance and act as advisor to delivery teams on contract requirements
  • Prepare contracts for review and sign off
  • Development of CRM database to track and monitor performance versus expectations
  • Lead on framework tenders / renegotiations (NHSSC)
What we'e looking for:
Essential
  • Proven experience of contracts management within public sector and ideally healthcare.
  • Demonstrated success within tendering processes
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A detailed understanding of public procurement legislation
  • A proactive, collaborative, and detail driven mindset.
  • Excel and power point proficiency
  • Willingness to work to tight timescales and manage colleagues to deliver tender responses on time
Desirable
  • Experience of working within Health care and ideally
  • Experience of tendering for Prosthetic and Orthotic contracts
  • Supplier negotiation experience
  • A background in working with clinical teams or rehabilitation services.
  • A willingness to seek out improvements and feedback to individual team members.
