Steeper Group Statement on Covid-19 Coronavirus


Following the UK Government announcement of new stringent measures to help tackle the Covid-19 outbreak, Steeper Group are doing all we can to assist in slowing the spread of Coronavirus, protecting our staff and patients and maintaining our capacity to deliver to our customers.
Throughout this challenging period our primary objectives are:

  • The health, safety and wellbeing of our patients
  • The continued and timely supply of goods and services to our customers
  • The health, safety and wellbeing of our people
  • Working with individual NHS Trusts to provide appropriate service levels

We are following all advice issued by the National Health Service, UK Government and our company advisors and ensuring this information is shared across our clinical and manufacturing network.

We have taken steps to provide additional hand washing and sanitising facilities at our sites and are promoting the use of single-use tissues. We have implemented home working practices where possible and our teams are strictly abiding by the recommended social distancing measures.

Our patients' health is vital to their wellbeing and, given the new guidance for staying at home we are recommending that our patients do exactly that, unless required to attend an appointment which is essential to their wellbeing.

Steeper Group provide essential goods and services to NHS and we have streamlined all of our support activities to ensure a continued service and supply of products where appropriate whilst also ensuring the wellbeing of our employees. We are working with individual NHS Trusts to establish local working practices which are supported by our HQ and manufacturing teams. Our service offerings have been adapted to ensure we are abiding by the new measures in place:

Prosthetics and Orthotics
Essential direct contact appointments are available, all other routine and repair appointments which may be able to be conducted via telephone or video call are being carried out in this manner where practicable. We will continue to respond to the changing needs of our service users and NHS guidelines.

Clinicians are as usual following meticulous hygiene procedures and have increased the frequency of hand washing and use of protective equipment where appropriate.

Assistive Technology
As the majority of our AT clients are within the most vulnerable groups, only essential (as defined by the NHS) appointments will be carried out, all of our engineers have been issued with new strict guidelines which include stringent hygiene measures and additional social distancing advice.

Our expert engineers are on hand to answer any technical queries regarding AT equipment and where possible will troubleshoot or advise via telephone.

Support Services
Our teams are working from home where practical and strictly abiding by the social distancing rules where this is not possible. We are on hand to answer any queries you may have via phone, email or video call.
