Prosthetist - The London Prosthetic Centre

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Prosthetist to provide and promote a high standard of Prosthetic care and treatment across a range of amputation levels, both upper and lower extremity, within our private prosthetic centre, The London Prosthetic Centre based in Kingston.

As a prosthetist you will be required to act in a professional manner at all times to other members of the team, the patients and their families. You will be required to cast, fit and deliver a well-fitting prosthesis and maintain the fit and mechanical integrity of the prosthesis while meeting the clinical needs of the patient.

Duties / Responsibilities:

In this role you will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team (both within the wider Prosthetic and Silicone Service), and respect the contribution of all members within the team and the importance of working together to ensure a high standard of patient care.

In addition, you will:

  • Assess, measure, cast, fit, deliver, supply, review and adjust prosthesis as required across a range of amputation levels, both upper and lower extremity.
  • Cast and rectify models in a timely fashion using both traditional methods and CAD/CAM where appropriate.
  • Manage the patient’s case, including patient expectation, ensuring the individual’s needs are respected and ensuring the patient is informed throughout the process with clear explanations of proposed interventions.
  • Maintain good knowledge of available components and understand their function.
  • Work within the parameters of accepted "best practice" at all times, ensuring that all aspects of practice conform to clinical governance at all times.
  • Act as a resource for clinical cover for annual leave, sickness, planned absences or emergency cover where appropriate.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the most appropriate and effective treatment for patients.
  • Identify, in conjunction with the Clinical Director and other Prosthetic Staff, service developments and/or improvements to ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
